1. Introduction
Rescue Angel Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Rescue Angel mobile applications (Customer App and Provider App) and website (rescueangel.co.uk) (collectively, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you use our Platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Australian Privacy Act 1988, and the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Data Controller: Rescue Angel Ltd, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, Company No. 15482390. Contact: privacy@rescueangel.co.uk
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide • Account information: Name, email address, phone number, profile photo. • Customer-specific: Vehicle details, payment card details (processed by Stripe). • Provider-specific: Business name, registered address, VAT registration number, public liability insurance documentation, bank account details (for payouts via Stripe Connect). • Driver-specific: Name, phone number, email (provided by the business owner who creates the driver account). • Service request details: Service type, subcategory, form responses, notes, scheduled date/time. • Communications: In-app chat messages during active jobs, voice support call transcripts, support tickets. • Ratings and reviews: Star ratings and text feedback left after completed jobs. 2.2 Data Collected Automatically • Location data: See Section 3. • Device information: Device model, OS version, app version, unique device identifiers. • Usage data: App interaction patterns, feature usage, crash reports. • Log data: IP address, browser type, access timestamps.
3. Location Data
Location is central to our service. We are transparent about when, how, and why we collect it. 3.1 Customer App • Permission level: “While Using the App” only. • Purpose: To set your service request location and find nearby providers. 3.2 Provider/Driver App • When: Only while you are online and on an active job. We do not collect your location when you are offline or when the app is closed. • Frequency: Your location is shared periodically — roughly once a minute, and less often to conserve battery. • Purpose: To show your live position to the customer during an active job, to show your position to your fleet owner on the dispatch dashboard, and to calculate accurate ETAs. 3.3 Retention • Live position: Your most recent location is stored on the job record so the customer and your fleet owner can follow your progress and so we can resolve any dispute about a visit. Each update overwrites the previous one — we do not build a continuous movement history. • Not used for: Advertising, profiling, or building a location/movement history.
4. How We Use Your Data
• Providing the service: Matching customers with providers, processing payments, facilitating communication during active jobs. • Location matching: Using GPS data to find the nearest available provider. • Payments: Processing payments via Stripe, calculating booking fees, routing payouts. • Communication: Enabling in-app chat and masked phone calls during active jobs. • Safety: SOS features that share location with emergency contacts, dispute resolution. • Referrals: If you sign up with a referral code or invite a friend, we record the referral relationship so we can credit any reward once the conditions are met. • Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised data for platform performance monitoring. • Legal compliance: Meeting our obligations under tax law and applicable regulations.
5. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, CCPA, Australian Privacy Act, and PIPEDA, you have the following rights: • Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data. • Erasure: Request deletion of your data. • Data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format. • Restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data. • Object to processing: Object to processing based on legitimate interests. • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@rescueangel.co.uk.
6. Inviting Friends from Your Contacts
Inviting friends is optional and based on your consent. • On-device matching: If you choose to let the app check which of your contacts already use Rescue Angel, your device turns each contact's phone number into a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) on your phone and sends only those codes to us to match against existing accounts. We never receive or store your contacts' names or phone numbers, and we never store your address book. • We never message anyone on your behalf: Any invitation is sent by you, from your own phone's messaging app. • Retention: The codes are used only to perform the match and are not retained afterwards. • Your choice: You can decline contacts access and simply share an invite link instead, and you can change the permission at any time in your device settings.
